A man from Kisii town in the Nyanza Province in southwest Kenya, Abraham Moseti, has caused shock and consternation after he killed his 24-year-old wife, Alice Okemwa, their one-year-old son, before committing suicide, after he was told he is related to her and that their union should end, reports Tuko.co.ke.
It was gathered that the man murdered his young family by setting their house on fire in their rural home in Nyamache Kisii county.
The two were said to have met and started living together in Nairobi but when they went home to notify their parents, they were informed that they are related and therefore, could not get married.
Moseti was then said to have threatened dire consequences but no one expected what happened.
The suicide and homicide incidents occurred on Friday, January 8. It is suspected that Moseti used petrol to set their house ablaze killing their son instantly but he and his wife died while undergoing treatment.
They were said to come from two clans -Omokiama and Omometobo- that never intermarry according to Kisii culture and tradition.
