Two sisters have been diagnosed with the same incurable condition that has already claimed the lives of their sister and mother. Amanda Lindesay, 46, was given the heart-wrenching news four months ago that she has motor neurone disease. She has been given just months to live.
Identical sister Vanessa Pritchard was also diagnosed with the condition last month. The sisters are two of triplets.
The pair lost their triplet sister Emma Richards-Ward to the illness in 2012 and it also cruelly claimed their mother Joan Richards in July last year, aged 75. Mum-of-three Amanda said yesterday: “I can’t change it – getting angry and upset won’t change the situation.
“I do have bad days. I always try to appreciate and value everything in my life. It helps me and everyone around me.”
Amanda had been caring for her mum and sister in their home town of Hereford.
She explained: “Emma was never diagnosed – I kept taking her to the doctor, but she was a 43-year-old young, fit woman.
“She had broken her leg and they thought a lot of the symptoms were associated with that.
“It wasn’t until she went into respiratory failure and had to be put on full life support that they realised.
