The singer – formally of One Direction – debuted his new track on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, marking his first performance without the band.
Not surprisingly his appearance has sent the Internet into a frenzy - particularly as his track It’s You is believed to be about his ex fiancée Perrie Edwards.
The general consensus seems to be that Zayn was wonderful and his fans are incredibly proud of him as he seemed so nervous but there are a few brave souls who have questioned his vocals.
One viewer wrote: “I'm sorry Zayn but you did not sound good tonight. I was excited to hear you sing, but it was just bad. :( #ZAYNOnFallon.”
Another tweeted: “Ok this is really bad. Please just give me the studio version. #FallonTonightLA #ZAYNOnFallon”
Other fans around the world were left fuming that the song dropped while they were at school.
However despite his mumbling and nervous performance most fans were completely enamoured and took to Twitter to gush about him - here's the best reactions from around the web.
The album will be released on March 25, exactly one year after Zayn quit One Direction after walking out during their On The Road Again world tour.
