Lionel Messi scored his 500th career goal last evening as Barcelona ran riot against Gary Neville’s hapless Valencia side in the Nou Camp.
The Argentine hit his 499th goal for club and country before the break, before striking for the 500th and 501st time in his illustrious career in the second half contributing towards a 7-0 annihilation.
His first, from six yards out, made it 3-0 just before the half-hour mark, before Valencia were reduced to 10 men before the break, with Neymar missing the resulting penalty.
Arda Turan and Luis Suarez combined to set up his second to make it 4-0, before he rifled a shot past Mathew Ryan in the Valencia goal to complete his hat-trick and make it 5-0.
