Man adds wife’s placenta into cocktails and pizza, then invites friends over for dinner

Tom, 31, put wife Amanda’s placenta into a pizza and ‘daiquiri’ cocktail, the Manchester Evening News reports.

When their first child was born, Tom had blended into a drink, but vowed to go one better after the birth of second child Nellie.

Amanda, 37, said: ‘When Tom blended my first placenta me and my friend Cat had a try. It was sort of “I will if you will”.

‘It tasted very metallic and she said if I have another child we’d go the whole hog and have a sit down meal, half joking really.

‘But when we’d had my second daughter Nellie and Tom said he was looking for recipes I warned my mate he was serious.’

The placenta was fried in onion and garlic with lots of seasoning.

He then made a strawberry daiquiri put some pepper in it and blended the placenta into the drink.

Amanda continued: ‘It was delicious. It just tasted like strawberry daiquiri.’

Recalling the drink after the couple’s first baby was born, Tom said: ‘The first time I just blended it and drank it and it was pretty grim to be honest – you could just taste the blood and it was gristly and fatty.’

He continued: ‘The second time round I thought right, let’s do it properly so I started looking on the internet for ideas.

‘Some of them were quite complicated with loads of faffing so I just thought well my favourite food is pizza so I’ll just cook it up with some onion and garlic.

‘When I tasted a bit on its own it had a similar taste and texture to liver but as soon as I put the garlic and onion with it, it was lovely.’

And he said not all his friends were impressed.

‘Some friends thought I was a weirdo for eating it but it’s no different to eating something like black pudding,’ he said.

Teen suffers second degree burns after an E-cigarette explodes in his face

A teen in Alberta, Canada suffered second degree burns and broken teeth after his e-cigarette spontaneously exploded just inches from his mouth while he was using it in his car.

The victim, Ty Greer, 16, was using the device in a car last week in Lethbridge when the e-cigarette exploded.

“It lit my kid’s face on fire, busted two teeth out,” Perry Greer, Ty’s father said Wednesday. “It burned the back of his throat, burned his tongue very badly. If he wasn’t wearing glasses, he possibly could have lost his eyes.”

Greer said the family raced Ty to hospital. He remembers hugging his son as he squirmed in agony waiting for a dose of morphine to kick in.

“He wanted to die. That is how much pain he was in.”

Greer doesn’t know why the device exploded.

“He pushed the button and blew in, and then you wait a couple of seconds, and then you puff on it. It was about two inches from his mouth and it just blew apart.”

Greer said his son has been treated for first- and second-degree burns.

Photos of Ty in the hospital show the skin around his mouth and cheeks blackened and bleeding. He’s received two root canals since the incident.

Greer said the model of electronic cigarette his son bought on his own is as large as a cigar and is popular because of the amount of vapour it produces.

The defective vape was a Wotofo Phantom, which is produced in China. Online reviews of the product on the marketplace Eciggity were mostly positive with no indication of such defects.

In a statement to Mic by the Smoke-Free Alternatives Trade Association, the industry shot back at the implication that e-cigarettes are dangerous.

“Electronic cigarettes and vapor products are electronic devices and do not combust. They should be thought the same as other rechargeable electrical equipment such as laptops and cellphones, in terms of being battery powered,” the statement read. “We cannot speak to user error or on behalf of a manufacturer for their device. If there is truly an issue with a specific device, similar to a laptop or cell phone manufacturer, inquiries should be directed toward the individual company.”

The manufacturer and its Canadian distributor were not immediately available for comment.

Greer said governments should not allow minors to buy such devices.

“I would like to see these unregulated ones possibly banned,” Greer said. “It is horrific to see your kid with his face so burnt.”

Phil Collins reunites with 3rd ex-wife, 8 years after their £25m divorce

Legendary singer Phil Collins, 64, is back with his 3rd former wife, Orianne Cevey, 8 years after he divorced her in one of the most expensive divorce settlements in the UK entertainment world at the time, topping the £24.3m Paul McCartney paid to Heather Mills after their split. He paid Orianne £25m in 2008 in a highly-publicized divorce.

The couple married in 1999 and had two children. They separated in 2006 and officially divorced in 2008 saying they had “grown apart”. But Collins has now revealed they are back together and even living together in Miami with their sons, Nicholas, 14, and Matthew, 11.

Collins revealed he had bought a house in Miami where Orianne and their two children live. He told Billboard magazine: “I’m actually back with my third wife – I haven’t really talked about it. We’ve been together for a while, and nobody’s noticed.”

The singer is also a father to Joely, 43, and Simon, 39 (with his first wife, Andrea Bertorelli. Married from 75-80) and Lily, 26 (with his second wife, Jill Tavelman. Marriage ended in 1994).

‘Top Secret’ emails on Clinton server: State Department

“Top secret” material was sent through Hillary Clinton’s private email server during her tenure as secretary of state, it was revealed, just days before voters cast their first ballots in the presidential campaign.
State Department spokesman John Kirby said the emails, which he described as “22 documents covering 37 pages” from seven email chains during Clinton’s tenure as secretary of state, would therefore not be released publicly.

Another 18 emails, from eight email chains, sent between then secretary Clinton and President Barack Obama will also not be released. But Kirby said those exchanges did not contain classified information.

Although emails previously released by the State Department have been partially redacted due to the nature of the information they contained, this was the first time entire messages were withheld.

The revelation about the top secret emails comes three days before Clinton — the frontrunner for the Democratic presidential nomination — goes to battle in the Iowa caucus, the first time the public will cast ballots on the long road to Election Day in November.

“These documents were not marked classified at the time they were sent,” Kirby told a news briefing, explaining that the emails had been reviewed prior to public release and found to contain top secret information.

“The documents are being upgraded at the request” of US intelligence agencies.

Senator Dianne Feinstein, the vice chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said that “none” of the email chains originated with Clinton or contained the mandatory markings that are required to accompany classified information when shared.

She described the material as being contained in 22 separate emails.

“The only reason to hold secretary Clinton responsible for emails that didn’t originate with her is for political points, and that’s what we’ve seen over the past several months,” Feinstein added.

– New attacks –

Clinton’s campaign reacted with fury to the announcement, demanding that the emails be released in full in order to defuse a burgeoning scandal that could critically damage her 2016 presidential hopes.

Campaign spokesman Brian Fallon said the review process “appears to be over-classification run amok.”

“We understand that these emails were likely originated on the State Department’s unclassified system before they were ever shared with Secretary Clinton, and they have remained on the department’s unclassified system for years,” he said.

The FBI is also investigating Clinton’s use of a private email server.

The disclosures triggered fresh Republican attacks on Clinton.

“If someone on my staff did what she did, you know what would happen? They would be fired and they would be prosecuted,” said Senator Marco Rubio.

“She is disqualified just because of that.”

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said that with the latest revelations, “Hillary Clinton has removed all doubt that she cannot be trusted with the presidency.”

He said her use of a private server “put our national security and diplomatic efforts at risk.”

‘We met your wife on her back!’ Wendy Williams takes aim at Kim Kardashian’s sex tape past as she wades into Kanye West and Amber Rose battle…

Wendy Williams jumped into Wiz Kahlifa and Amber Rose’s corner in their battle against Kanye West on Thursday.
The controversial 51-year-old host initially seemed to be criticizing the rapper for his comments about Amber’s stripper past and her not yet three-year-old son but quickly turned it into attack on the Yeezus star and his wife Kim Kardashian.

As part of her Hot Topics segment, the host brought up Kanye’s comment that Wiz ‘let a stripper trap’ him but while defending Amber from so-called ‘s**t shaming’, she did the same to Kim.

Wendy told her audience:
‘The idea he’s talking about Amber being a stripper, you’re not saying about anything she hasn’t admitted herself. ‘As a matter of fact, Kanye, you’re the one who gave this stripper her come-up.
‘And, by the way, we recall meeting your wife on her back.’

Caitlyn Jenner finally settles fatal car crash lawsuit against her

Caitlyn Jenner has settled the fatal car crash lawsuit against her after the victim’s stepchildren tried to sue for a reported £18.5million.

The 66-year-old reality television star was involved in a crash which killed Kim Howe when her vehicle was shunted into oncoming traffic back in February last year.

Kim’s adult stepchildren, William and Dana, had filed a wrongful death suit against the I Am Cait star, but the duo and Caitlyn both filed to dismiss the case on Thursday, according to TMZ.

A defiant Louis van Gaal declares that he would not quit Man U despite outrageous media claims

Man U coach Louis van Gaal has insisted that he will not resign despite the huge pressure he is facing in his second year as the coach of Britain’s biggest and most successful club. The Dutch man lost at home last week to Southampton and his style of play has infuriated fans with many calling for him to be sacked and replaced with either Ryan Giggs, Pep Guardiola or Jose Mourinho.

Van Gaal labelled the stories suggesting he had to be persuaded to stay as “awful and horrible” on Thursday’s press conference ahead of the F.A cup clash with Derby County. Asked about the claims he offered to walk away from the job, Van Gaal told reporters:
“I have not mentioned that, ever. I am always fighting. I have signed a three-year contract here. It’s a process, not one game, and I want to continue until the end. When I’m not willing to do that, I don’t think I would have started here one-and-a-half years ago. When I have signed for clubs, I have always spoken a long time with the CEO or with the owners, not only at United, but also at Bayern Munich and Barcelona, and I have the faith that they always support me. But that gives more pressure to you, because you must fulfil the expectations they have of you. Of course we can fulfil those expectations. We are now only halfway. I cannot lose any more, because then I am condemned for the fourth time that I have been sacked.”
Manchester United is fifth in the Premier League. They are out of the Champions League and the League Cup.

J Lo talks about her engagement rumours

The 46-year-old singer, Shades of Blue star and American Idol judge was asked about engagement rumors on Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS-FM radio show On-Air With Ryan Seacrest Wednesday.

“I’m not engaged and I didn’t know there were rumors,” Lopez said. “I’ve been so busy that I haven’t really had time to keep up with the gossip.”

Lopez had confirmed to Ellen DeGeneres earlier this month that she and on-again, off-again boyfriend Casper Smart are together but there is “no wedding” in the works.

However, the singer and actress, who shares 7-year-old twins Max and Emme with third ex-husband Marc Anthony, said on NBC’s Today show she is open to the idea of tying the knot once again.

“I love getting married,” she said. “I really want to get married in a church with a big dress.”

Nurse who faked cancer and pocketed $25K in donations arrested

Police arrested a Georgia medical professional who they say for years duped kind-hearted loved ones and strangers into thinking she had Stage IV ovarian cancer to walk away with at least $25,000 in donations, free trips and gifts.

Mary Bennett, 29, spoke of her battle with cancer on social media for years, writing about the things she still wanted to cross off her “bucket list” and thanking friends for their generosity as they donated to her cause, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s office told INSIDE EDITION.

The licensed practical nurse’s ambitions to live life to the fullest inspired those around Bennett, who officials said was treated to a wide range of experiences financed through fundraisers and gifts.
Trips and experiences included skydiving, a trip to New Orleans, a hot air balloon ride and a trip to Houston, Texas for a supposed medical treatment made possible by a local fundraiser that brought in $4,000, officials said.
“I just wanted to tell you all, thank you! I am so very appreciative for the donations and the orders that people have placed… It’s certainly hard going thru cancer at any age. But for this to be the 2nd time in my short 27 years has certainly made me wiser and humbled,” Bennett wrote on a Facebook page created to raise funds for her cause.
Bennett, whose Twitter bio noted she was “a nurse… I’m also an Ovarian Cancer Survivor!” claimed to have been diagnosed with Stage III ovarian cancer in 2013. She wrote on Facebook that she was laid off from her job in August of that year and was struggling to pay her bills.
“I can promise that once I’m better I will pay forward your kind acts through my career as a nurse and through donations,” she wrote. “Again thank you all so much! It truly means the world to me!”
But Bennett had never been diagnosed with cancer, according to officials and that there was no record of her receiving treatment anywhere.
“Her family was completely in the dark. She would go to these doctors and her family would take her, but no one ever actually went in with her. She was not actually having procedures,” Deputy Epifanio Rodriguez with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said.
At one point, Bennett allegedly claimed the cancer had spread to her brain and to her brainstem, he said. She allegedly said that she needed to undergo a special Gamma Knife procedure at the cancer hospital MD Anderson to battle the four tumors found.
“She went to the extreme and shaved her head, put bandages on her head,” Rodriguez said.
She explained away the lack of scars from such procedures by saying “It was a miracle,”.

Scientists claim Zika can be spread through sex

As the devastating Zika virus rampages through the Caribbean and Latin America – and threatens to hit parts of the US such as Florida – more and more questions are being asked about how it can be transmitted.
The virus has been linked to birth defects in thousands of Brazilian babies, born with heads smaller than normal and undeveloped brains.

Symptoms include a rash, fever, conjunctivitis and headache and to date, 21 countries have been affected.

At the moment, there is clear scientific evidence the virus is transmitted by the same type of mosquito that spreads other tropical diseases, such as dengue fever, chikungunya and yellow fever.
But there are also fears the virus may be passed on through sex, following two reports in medical literature.

One states that Zika was found in the semen of a man from Tahiti, the other that the virus was passed from a husband to his wife after intercourse.
But is there really a risk?
In a statement issued this week, the World Health Organisation said there was still insufficient evidence to make the link.
But these research papers argue otherwise.

Super: Oprah Winfrey made $12 million from one tweet about bread

Oprah Winfrey just made more news, saying she lost 26 pounds on her Weight Watchers diet. Even better, her wallet got a lot fatter. According to Market Watch, Winfrey racked in a whopping $12 million for merely writing about how she was able to lose weight and still eat bread.

“I lost 26 pounds, and I have eaten bread every single day,” she said in her testimonial clip.
An hour after O sent her story into the Twitterverse, Weight Watchers shares climbed slightly over $2 a share, and since Winfrey owns roughly 6 million shares, the surge in share prices made the celeb $12 million just like that.

Oprah as a board member and large share owner of the company. She’s made a fortune since her October investment. Using a price of $13 a share from Tuesday afternoon, that means she’s made $61 million on her total investment.

On a per-pound basis, that’s $2.36 million of profits gained for each pound lost.
She has the best of both worlds: getting richer while getting slimmer.
Oprah’s October investment came at a price of $6.79 per share. She bought about 6.36 million shares, which cost her $43.2 million.
She was also granted 3.51 million options to buy shares at that same $6.79 price. Combining shares and options, her total stake is worth almost 10 million shares — 9.88 million shares to be more specific. The stock has practically doubled in that time, even including the rapid decline in the past several weeks.

Photo of a Potato Sold for over $1 Million

Now this should put some smiles on farmers! According to the Independent, a European businessman purchased this photo of a potato for 1 million euros ($1,086,950). Of course, it’s probably not the potato itself that made the photograph so pricey. It was taken by acclaimed photographer Kevin Abosch in 2010 and is one of three versions of the print in existence.

Abosch says it’s the most expensive photo he’s ever sold, and most of his work typically goes for around $280,000. So if any photo of a potato is ever going to be worth $1 million, it seems this would be the one. To some, this maybe an absurd price to pay for a photo of a potato but myself being a frontier encouraging Africans to enter the agribusiness, I think it’s awesome.

Couple arrested in Spain for letting son aged TEN drive them about in their BMW

A couple were arrested after police spotted them being driven along a busy street by their son aged TEN. The young boy was at the wheel of the family’s high-powered BMW X6 on a road in Spain’s north African enclave of Ceuta. His father was in the passenger seat talking on his phone, while his mother and a sister were in the back seat.

A spokesman for Spain’s Guardia Civil police said: “They were being driven along by a small child who was struggling to see over the dashboard like it was the most normal thing in the world.”

Both parents were arrested at the scene. The father was later charged with being an ‘accomplice to the crime of reckless driving ’ and could face a maximum two-year prison sentence.

The boy’s 35-year-old mother was later released without charge.

Eritrea’s government wants to make polygamy mandatory as Male Population Dwindles?

Eritrean activists translated a message from Arabic yesterday and its contents are still sending ripples of shock throughout the country. In a document allegedly written by the Department of Religious Affairs of the East African country, polygamy for Eritreans is no longer a matter of choice. By law, the men are now required to marry at least two wives, or face life imprisonment with hard labour. Similarly, women who attempt to prevent their husbands from exercising the law would spend the rest of their lives in jail.

According to the document, which has been circulating over the internet, the government of Eritrea, which is currently facing a shortage of male population following the civil war with Ethiopia, is willing to cover the necessary wedding and accommodation expenses in a show of good faith towards fulfilling the set mission. The memo is yet to receive official verification or be re-produced in the country’s other national languages.

Eritrea was at war with Ethiopia from 1998 to 2000, resulting from a dispute over borders. The situation between both countries within this period remained hostile and the feeling carried on well after a peace deal was signed in 2000. The war cost Eritrea about 150,000 soldiers which ultimately affected its male population, as the country is populated by only about four million people.

A quick look at the reason behind why the Eritrean government would brazenly interfere in the lives of its citizens shows both a religious and historical backing. Polygamy – or more precisely as in this case, polygyny – is not the reserve of any one religion or culture, as history proves. Its foundation in religions such as Islam, Christianity, Judaism, among others, is built on incidences where there were casualties of war or fatalities and a need to repopulate the affected societies.

Thus, while the ideology behind the Eritrean government’s latest decision is understandable, it certainly does not create an excuse for coercion in such matters. The Qur’an categorically states that polygamy must not be forced upon anyone and should only be practiced when convenient for the parties involved.

The Qur’an permits a man to marry up to four wives, provided he can support and treat them all equally. Muslims regard this Qur’anic command as strengthening the status of women and the family for it sought to ensure the welfare of single women and widows in a society whose male population was diminished by warfare, and to curb unrestricted polygamy (John Esposito: Islam the Straight Path, p.97).
Regardless, contemporary times have witnessed a shift from polygamous societies to more monogamous and ‘free’ ones. Therefore, forcing citizens of a country to participate or face legal consequences is far from acceptable.

In 2014, Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta legalised polygamy, with no limit on the number of wives that a man can marry. Due to this event, Kenyans are reportedly lauding the decision of the Eritrean government on the matter. Other African countries where polygamy remains illegal include Ghana, Ethiopia, Guinea, Cote d’Ivoire, Angola, Tunisia, Rwanda, and Burundi.

Don Jazzy flies to Eritrea

Yesterday (January 26) the Eritrean government enacted a law forcing all men to embrace polygamy or face life imprisonment due to a shortage of men in the country.

The bizarre law quickly went viral with Nigerians on social media reacting to it. There were funny memes and tweets about the polygamy law.

Even Mavin boss Don Jazzy got in on the action.

Today (January 27) Don Jazzy shared a photo of him entering a plane with the caption "#Eritrea offffff".

We don't know if this law applies to Nigerian men but hey Don Jazzy should try his luck.

Why we took our two-month-old baby to a plastic surgeon?

My husband was rocking our two-month old daughter on his knees when I walked into the room and screamed: “WHAT HAPPENED TO HER EARS?”

He turned his head, alarmed. “What happened?” he said.

“Her ears!” I said. “They’re huge!”

“Oh.” He relaxed. Nothing was really outstanding.

But there was something outstanding: her ears. From behind they loomed large, like protruding handles. I’d never seen her from this angle. Normally I was over her, breastfeeding her, changing her, or putting her to sleep. When I took her out for summer walks, her dainty features and luminous eyes always got so many comments. “She’s beautiful!” people would say.

But lately I’d been noticing a new type of comment: “She looks really smart!” Was that the equivalent of saying an unattractive woman had a “great personality”?

Don’t get me wrong: after four years of infertility I was so grateful for my daughter, who really is adorable. Trying to get pregnant for so long meant I also swore that I wouldn’t be one of those helicopter over-achieving parents, hoping to get my kid on a path into Yale by age two. My husband and I were pretty laid back, jeans and t-shirt type of people, even though we’d both had cosmetic surgery (him, a nose job; me, a stem cell face lift.) But this wasn’t just about looks — it could affect how other kids would treat her.

“I have big ears,” said a friend to whom I made the unfortunate choice of confessing my ear worry without first checking out hers.

“Oh, was it a problem for you?” I innocently asked.

“Well, aside from being called Dumbo in grade school…” she said. Argh.

What to do? Online mom forums were no help, because anyone who asked about the issue of big ears got attacked by the other mothers who found their own kids’ protruding ears adorably yummy. (One mother defended a questioner by saying, “Kids are cruel, and most of you folks wouldn’t think twice about someone’s decision to circumcise their child or pierce their ears, so what’s the issue with this??”)

“Newborn moms spend too much time examining their babies because they have too much time home alone with them,” my doctor said. But then I turned her around. “Oh, I see what you mean,” he added. He told me she’d probably grow out of it, that it was due to her sleeping on her back.

The plastic surgeon didn’t agree. Yup, that’s where we took her after investigating other options, like the Baby’s Bonnette from France, which was a netting hat that promised to hold babies’ ears down during sleep, or the Ear Wells from England, small ear-shaped plastic “splints” that corrected ear deformities and “bat ears,” which is what my daughter had. My husband wanted it done professionally.

“Your daughter’s ears are not going to flatten out after she spends time on her tummy,” said Doctor David A. Staffenberg, who specializes in craniofacial surgery. (Boy, did I feel horrible when I was chatting with another mother in the waiting room who told me her daughter needed surgery to split the skull bones open.) He said she was the perfect candidate for Ear Wells, a more cumbersome splint which shaped and caged the ear in plastic and held it to a baby’s head. The only problem? We were quite late to the game. It had taken me a over a month to take action — and now the cartilage was beginning to set.

Meek Mill shared a photo of himself with his woman, Nicki Minaj and his son at a basketball game. Looks like they are still going strong.
