Muhammad Ali wishes to meet Queen Elizabeth

Muhammad Ali is hoping he will meet Queen Elizabeth when he comes to the United Kingdom later this year.

The retired boxer is reportedly desperate to see the 89-year-old royal on what he believes will be his last trip to the United Kingdom later this year.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “He wants to meet the Queen. He knows it will be the last time he comes to the UK and his number one wish is to meet Her Majesty.”

Meanwhile, Muhammad previously dubbed Prince Charles as “the greatest”.

During a tour of the United States, the Prince of Wales and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, were welcomed to the Kentucky Centre for African American Heritage with a letter from the former sportsman.

Former missionary sentenced to 40 years for sexual abuse of Kenyan orphans

A federal judge in Oklahoma has sentenced A former missionary, 21 year old Matthew Lane Durham has been convicted of sexually abusing children at an orphanage in Kenya and sentenced to 40 years in jail in an Oklahoma court.
Prosecutors accused Durham of targeting and molesting the orphans while he volunteered at the Upendo Children’s Orphanage Home in Nairobi, Kenya between April 2014 and June 2014.

Durham didn’t show any emotion when he was sentenced on Monday morning, March 7th. He was sentenced on each of four counts of engaging in illicit sexual conduct in foreign places.
U.S. District Judge David L. Russell called the crimes heinous. In addition to the 40 year prison term, Durham has also been ordered to pay restitution of $15,863 by the judge.

A jury had found him guilty and convicted him in June on seven counts of abuse, but the judge acquitted Durham of three of the counts in January 2016.

Man involved in a child sex abuse case shoots at the little girl's home

A 63-year-old Pennsylvania man, Douglas Kohen , who was involved in a child sex abuse case fired six shots into the child's home while she was playing with her friend and her father after he was released on bail. After he shot into the house, he tried to escape in his car but got involved in an accident which led to his capture.

Chester County District Attorney Tom Hogan says Kohen now faces charges of attempted murder and witness intimidation added to his child sex charge.

Hogan says the shots went through the wall and into a second home, fortunately, no one was injured.

Acting Downingtown Police Chief Howard Holland says Kohen was caught within hours and has been charged in January with corruption of minors and other offenses related to abuse of a child on Monday

Angry mum post on Facebook publicly shaming her 12-year-old son for bullying a girl

Terry Evans has publicly shamed her son on Facebook after she caught him bullying a girl who recently joined his school. Terry, who is a single mother, outed her 12-year-old son Jacob on her Facebook account last month.

She writes that she’s ‘absolutely disgusted’ that her son ‘purposefully tread on a new girl’s foot at school’, which caused her ‘brand new’ shoe’s heel to snap.

She then warns him: ‘If you so much as breath in her or anyone’s direction in a bullying manner I will personally hand you over to their parents for every demeaning chore they see fit for as long as they do.’

Since the post was uploaded, it has racked up more than 54,000 likes and has been shared over 11,200 times with people praising her ‘fantastic parenting’.

Initially, Terry had tagged her son in the post so that his friend’s could see that ‘his actions have consequences’, but removed his name after the post went viral. Of course, not all parents were forgiving, with some criticising the mother-of-four for ‘humiliating’ her son.

Nature snapper reveals truth behind hilarious snap

The photographer who was pictured turning the other way to a pair of rhinos mating has revealed the truth behind the infamous shot – and it’s not all it seems.

Photographer Greg Armfield was in Nairobi National Park capturing images of rhino patrol leader Harrison Njoroge Kamande for the Kenyan Wildlife Service.

But the whole time a male rhino was mounting a female not far behind his back.

Or so it seemed, as Greg revealed he hadn’t actually missed the shot. He’d taken pictures of the frisky incident already and was turning his attention to the rangers’ reactions when the photograph was taken.

Greg said how the animal couple had been going for 45 minutes already when he shifted his focus. And he added that despite backlash for the image, he still looks at it with pride.

Greg told the Guardian: “It was amazing to see the comments and messages roll in, from friends and strangers, saying, “I can’t believe you missed that, Greg.”

Man who invented email and made the @ sign popular dies aged 74

Ray Tomlinson, 74 , passed away on Saturday after suffering a heart attack, according to reports. He came up with the idea that electronic messages could be sent between computers. In 1971, he sent the first ever email. At the time he was working in Boston as an engineer for research company Bolt, Beranek and Newman.

The official Gmail Twitter account was one of the first to pay tribute to Tomlinson. A member of their social media team wrote:

‘Thank you, Ray Tomlinson, for inventing email and putting the @ sign on the map,’

Email existed in a limited capacity before Tomlinson in that electronic messages could be shared amid multiple people within a limited framework. But until his invention in 1971 of the first network person-to-person email there was no way to send something to a specific person at a specific address. Tomlinson chose the ‘@’ (‘at’) symbol to connect the username with the destination address and it has now become a cultural icon.

While he was a holder of numerous awards and other accolades, co-workers say he was humble and modest. And, surprisingly, not a frequent checker of email. Raytheon Co., his employer, on Sunday confirmed his death; the details were not immediately available.
In an interview with The Verge in 2012, he said: ‘I see email being used, by and large, exactly the way I envisioned. In particular, it’s not strictly a work tool or strictly a personal thing.
‘Everybody uses it in different ways, but they use it in a way they find works for them.’

Married man claims, lover ‘begged for sex so she could get pregnant and stay in UK’

A woman ‘begged’ a man to have sex with her in the hope of getting pregnant so she would be able to stay in the UK, a court has heard.

Jose Yampanya, 38, from Bristol, met the woman through a church and spent time with her while his wife and children were visiting the Congo.

Mr Yampanya claimed the woman threatened to cry rape if he didn’t succumb to her demands as she stripped.  The court heard that on the Saturday before the alleged rape, he was at the woman’s home when she tried to instigate intimacy with him.

He said: ‘She was forcing me to sex. I wanted sex with a condom. She didn’t want sex with a condom.

‘She was saying ‘If you don’t do it I will call the pastor to tell him you want to make love with me by force, or I’ll call the police’.’

The following Monday, he had taken her to the post office so she could collect her benefit money before they returned home.

He told the jury: ‘She was in her room. She had only her underwear and bra on. She was sitting on the bed.’ Yampanya said the woman kicked the door shut and they kissed and embraced, moving to the floor.

‘It was clear she was asking me if I could get her pregnant with a child that would support her immigration.’ When Yampanya told her he would leave unless they had protected sex, the woman pleaded with her to help him.

Police arrived at the house after a neighbour heard screams and alerted them. Yampanya said: ‘She said ‘if it is the police, since you don’t want to help me, I will use the word rape’.’

The woman then reported an attempted rape.

The case continues.

Dad who molested 6 year old cancer-stricken daughter avoids prison

A 6-year-old girl who was recovering from a brain tumor told her mum while being tucked into bed one night last March that her Dad had being molesting her but told her mum not to tell anyone.
She said her Dad had made her touch his genitalia. She told her mum:
“Mommy, I touch my daddy’s peepeeluca,” referring to her dad’s genitalia. “Promise you won’t tell,”
“If you tell everybody in the whole wide world, he’ll go to jail ’cause it’s a secret,” she said, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in court in Marion County, Indianapolis.
The girl who is now 7, was diagnosed with a brain tumor in August 2013, she had surgery to remove the tumor and was sent for follow-up treatment at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, where she lived for four months.
Throughout her ordeal, according to the court documents,her father stayed by her side.
“Jeremy would stay in her bed until she fell asleep and he would sometimes fall asleep in the bed with her,” according to the probable cause affidavit. “He would also occasionally sleep on a mattress on her floor and he would sometimes come into the bedroom and sleep on the bed” with her. “He would also sleep on the couch or on a mattress in the living room, sometimes.”
Schwer was described as a “perfect daddy figure,” according to the documents.

When the child’s mother confronted Schwer, he said:
“No, no, no, I was asleep and she touched it one time in my sleep,” according to the court documents. “I didn’t hurt her,”. “I didn’t hurt her.”
The girl’s 41-year-old father Jeremy Schwer, was arrested but won’t be going to jail, instead, he has been sentenced to 12 years probation for felony child molestation after his now-estranged wife wrote a letter to a judge, begging him not to put imprison him, according to the Indianapolis Star.
The mother, who has since filed for divorce, told the judge she needed Schwer to work so he could provide financial support to her and their two children.

The judge accepted the plea and said he wanted Schwer “to keep his job and help his wife and two little children with health insurance and expenses.”. But the negative media attention has made Schwer lose his job and made him his client unemployable in his little town of Indianapolis
“He’s not a bad man; he made a mistake,” Schwer’s attorney, John Campbell, told The Washington Post.
Schwer was charged with “foundling or touching” his daughter between July 10, 2014, and March 6, 2015. He entered a guilty plea Tuesday, Marion Superior Court Magistrate Steven Rubick instead sentenced him to 12 years probation. He will be on GPS monitoring for the first six years, he has also been ordered to register as a sex offender and vacate the family home.

Adam Johnson to be paid £15 a week to attend sex offender’s course in prison

Disgraced footballer Adam Johnson who is set to go to jail for sexual crimes against an underage girl is set to be paid £15 a week to attend sex offender’s course while in prison.

The 28-year-old, who earned £60,000 a week with Sunderland before he was sacked, will receive up to £15 a week while completing the rehab programme.

Once inside he will be encouraged to confront his crimes in both group and one to one sessions. Johnson is expected to serve his time at HMP Frankland in Durham with other inmates like child killers Ian Huntley and Levi Bellfield but will not qualify for early release unless he can show parole officers he has completed the course and is genuinely sorry.

A Prison Service spokesman said:
“Prisoners who take part in work, education, or offending behaviour programmes receive a minimal amount but only if they participate in purposeful activity.”
“Offenders are asked to express the impact their actions have had verbally, in written work and in the form of pictures, paintings and collages.”

Former inmate Jermaine James suggested Johnson may have to pay inmates to protect him:
“He may have to pay money to criminals to protect him. I am not suggesting he is going to do that, but it is a factor for him.”

Nigeria’s former defence chief charged with graft

A Nigerian court on Monday charged a former chief of defence staff with a string of corruption charges, in the latest case involving a high-ranking official.

Retired air chief marshal Alex Badeh was arrested last month and questioned about the alleged diversion of 3.97 billion naira ($19.7 million, 17.9 million euros) from the Nigeria Air Force in 2013.
The 59-year-old, who at the time was chief of air staff, was formally arraigned with 10 counts of fraud, criminal breach of trust and money laundering at a federal high court in Abuja on Monday.

Judge Okon Abang remanded Badeh in custody until a bail application on Thursday.

Former president Goodluck Jonathan appointed Badeh chief of defence staff in January 2014 at a time of growing dissatisfaction at the military’s handling of Boko Haram’s insurgency.

Badeh vowed a swift end to the conflict, which began in 2009, but his time in office saw the Islamist militants run riot in three northeast states, seizing swathes of territory.

The military appeared in disarray, with troops complaining about a lack of weapons and even bullets to fight the better armed rebels, leading some soldiers to refuse to deploy.

Former national security advisor Sambo Dasuki is currently facing a separate trial over his alleged diversion of billions of dollars for weapons procurement using bogus defence contracts.

Badeh’s time in charge also saw Boko Haram’s abduction of more than 200 schoolgirls from the town of Chibok in April 2014, which caused worldwide anger and criticism of the government response.

In May that year he disclosed the military knew where the 219 girls were but that a rescue mission was dangerous. Nearly two years on, none of the teenagers has been found.

Nigeria’s current President Muhammadu Buhari, whose anti-corruption campaign has seen several prominent politicians and officials arrested, sacked Badeh and his entire military high command in July last year.

64-year-old woman sentenced to 27 months behind bars for trying smuggle heroin into the U.S hidde

A 64-year-old Ghanaian woman was convicted for attempting to smuggle drugs into the US and sentenced to twenty seven months in prison by a New York City court.

According to the New York Daily News, Rose Amanor was arrested at Kennedy Airport after disembarking on a flight from Amsterdam last year. The search revealed she was travelling with three kilograms of heroin stuffed inside a haul of dry fish. She claimed her son duped her into carrying the bag into the city.

Her lawyers begged for mercy citing her advanced age and poor health, requesting a short sentence so she could return to Africa. But Federal Judge Eric Vitaliano was not having it, saying she had told ‘incessant number of fishy stories’

“I find it totally incredible that Mrs. Amanor didn’t know what it was that she was doing, Judge Vitaliano said. “It certainly was a disrespect for the law, sitting in this courtroom and spinning this incredible tale under oath.”

The judge pointed out that if Mrs Amour had not been intercepted, the drugs would have wreaked havoc on young people.

In court, Amanor, who could almost certainly speak English, said she couldn’t, and requested a Twi translator. This was despite, as the Daily News put it: ‘that English is the national language of Ghana, and when she was arrested she was carrying two Bibles, a dietary nutrition plan, and other documents written in English, and had received numerous emails from her son written in English.’

Amanor begged the judge through the interpreter saying: “I am asking you to have mercy on me so I can go home to my family and enjoy whatever time I have left with my family

Amanor has served about 13 months since her arrest and will be deported to Ghana after serving her sentence.

Mum and daughter who both ‘died’ during birth make miracle recovery to spend first Mother’s Day together

A woman, 24 year old Louiser Chapman, who came close to death when her placenta tore from her womb and she lost a litre of blood during a serious haemorrhage that saw her heart and her daughter’s heart stop during childbirth is grateful to be alive with her daughter to celebrate their first Mother’s day together.

Chapman said she had a normal pregnancy until when she was 30 weeks pregnant and started feeling an excruciating pain in her stomach while she was taking a bath in October last year. She said she remembers she told her 3 year old son-Charlie to give her the home phone so she could call the Ambulance but then she blacked out.

Her partner, 33 year old mechanic, Oliver Kernahan who was at work fortunately got home when the Ambulance arrived and found Charlie by the door. He said Charlie was a hero and “we’re so proud of him.”

Chapman was rushed to the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, where a scan revealed her placenta had torn from her womb. She was transferred to Royal Sussex County Hospital for a c-section but had a reaction to an antibiotic, cefuroxime, and doctors desperately fought to resuscitate her.

They put her in an induced coma for ten days and her ten-week premature daughter spent the first days of her life in an incubator.

When Louiser came out of her coma, she was left with a short-term memory – likely due to the trauma – and nurses wrote her a birth diary to record the precious moments she had lost.

Louiser said:

“I really can’t remember anything about giving birth. “My partner Oliver and the doctors had to fill me in on everything that happened so everything I know is second hand.

“It was so upsetting – it’s so important for new mums to bond with their babies when they’re born, and I couldn’t do it. “They wrote down when Olivia was born and how much she weighed, as well as who had come to visit me in case I forgot.

“It was lovely as when I woke each morning, I got upset as I had forgotten what happened yesterday. So looking at my diary helped me.”

Little Olivia weighed just 3lbs and 2 weeks after she was born, the family was told she had a hole in her heart but were told that with time, they were confident the hole would close by itself and were released to go home.

Eight days after they were home, Olivia stopped breathing after suffering cold symptoms. Chapman said when Olivia stopped breathing, she panicked and performed CPR that saved her daughter’s life.

Chapman said:

“I had just fed her and then lay her on my chest. I took her upstairs pulled her away from chest and she was blue and floppy,” “She wasn’t breathing. I panicked, I didn’t know what to do. I was in an absolute state.

“At first I passed her to Oliver, but then my training for work kicked in. I’d been taught CPR and I started giving her rescue breaths. Finally she gave out a cry.”

She was rushed to East Surrey Hospital where doctors found out that Olivia had caught bronchiolitis and pneumonia which had affected her upper respiratory system.

Chapman added:

“There were doctors all around her, they gave her CPR, two blood transfusions. “It was horrific. When I later saw her in intensive care I thought, ‘How is she going to come back from this?’ “I didn’t think she would survive, there were times when I just couldn’t think of the positive.”

The family spent last Christmas in hospital and after six weeks on the ward, little Olivia was allowed to go home – but has to use an oxygen tank.

The little fighter has needed lots of treatment, but now four-months-old, she’s back home and the pair have an extra special bond.

She’s still using the oxygen tank, the family say it’s difficult getting used to Olivia using the tank but they are very grateful to have her here. They have to do everything with the oxygen tank attached to her and make sure they never leave it empty.

Chapman said: “There was a point when I really didn’t think we’d get get here – we really thought we’d lose Olivia.
